About Me
Hi, I’m Nik, a Chicago-based policy analyst, live entertainment technician, and fabrication engineer. You’ll either find me in the press or 100’ up in the air. If you’ve seen any theater in Chicago, I have likely contributed to it. I’ve got a BA in Public Policy and BFA in Theater Technology, both from DePaul University.
People know me as someone who reliably delivers on my commitments and can find the answer to any question you might have—just give me enough time and I’ll come back with it. I’m incredibly curious and love to learn how things work, whether it’s bureaucratic or technical.
To supplement my policy analyses, I work with data sets in R to understand trends and create visuals of my ideas. To complete my engineering work, I 3D model all of my solutions in AutoCAD.
You can explore all of my projects and writing samples here.
In addition to my professional career, I spend the majority of my free time on a bike or as a sustainable transportation advocate. As part of that work, I’ve provided legislative text, written research articles and op-eds, and been able to speak on a panel with real journalists about my work. I’m currently attempting to bike every single road in the city of Chicago, and I hope to be done within the decade. You can find articles I’ve written as part of my advocacy here.
Additionally, I work with a fantastic group of individuals as part of the leadership team at Chicago, Bike Grid Now! We’re a volunteer advocacy group working with city leaders to prioritize 10% of Chicago’s streets for pedestrians and cyclists since 10% of transportation in the city is made by bicycle. Our ordinance would use infrastructure to make streets safe for all users.
